We Give Donations to Poor People

a mission to Improve lives

Marian Outreach Mission (MOM) was born from one priest's lifelong desire to improve the lives of the people who shaped him.
Over the years, he supported his community through scholarships, emergency relief, and housing assistance. Yet one deeply personal experience transformed his vision into a lasting mission. While caring for his mother during her final battle with pancreatic cancer in a London hospital, he witnessed her greatest concern. Despite her own suffering, she wept daily for the people back home who had no opportunity even to receive a medical diagnosis, let alone treatment. Inspired by her compassion and faith, he resolved to create something that would bring lasting hope to those most in need. Today, that vision lives on through Marian Outreach Mission. Growing up in the rural village of Umunomo in Imo State, Nigeria, he experienced first-hand the daily struggles caused by poverty, inadequate healthcare, poor infrastructure, and limited educational opportunities. Although his priestly ministry later took him abroad, every visit home reminded him that many families continued to live without access to the most basic necessities.

Our story

On the first anniversary of his mother’s passing, a free medical outreach was organised in Umunomo, serving more than 1,000 patients in a single day.

What began as a one-time act of remembrance quickly revealed the overwhelming need for accessible healthcare. The response from the local community was extraordinary, and with the support of generous friends and volunteers, the outreach has continued to grow each year.

The annual programme now brings together doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, and other healthcare professionals paid to provide free medical services, including:

1. General medical consultations
2. Prescription medications
3. Health screenings
4. Eye examinations
5. Eye surgeries
6. Prescription eyeglasses
7. Minor procedures
8. Health education and disease prevention

Each year, thousands of people from Umunomo and neighbouring villages receive life-changing medical care that would otherwise be beyond their reach.

Why it Matters

Umunomo is located in Ihitteafoukwu, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria.
Like many rural African communities, families face significant challenges, including limited access to healthcare, clean water, reliable electricity, quality education, and employment opportunities. Many survive on the equivalent of less than £1 per day.

For countless residents, travelling to a hospital is simply unaffordable. Preventable illnesses often go untreated, and diseases that could be managed become life-threatening because medical care is inaccessible.

Despite these hardships, the people of Umunomo continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience, hope, and strength. Marian Outreach Mission exists to stand alongside them and help create lasting change.

Our Mission

Marian Outreach Mission exists to improve health, education, and overall well-being within underserved communities.

We work to mobilise people, resources, and partnerships that will:

1. Deliver free, high-quality healthcare
2. Promote health education and disease prevention
3. Expand educational opportunities
4. Develop sustainable healthcare infrastructure
5. Improve quality of life through long-term community development

Our goal is not only to respond to immediate needs but to build a healthier and more hopeful future for generations to come.

Our Annual Medical Outreach

Now in its seventh year, the Annual Medical Outreach has become a vital healthcare programme serving thousands of people.

Every outreach brings together approximately:

20 doctors
30 nurses
Pharmacists and laboratory staff
Medical volunteers
Community support teams

Together they provide free treatment, medication, equipment, and specialist care to well over 1,000 patients each year.

This life-saving programme receives no government funding and depends entirely on donations, volunteers, and the generosity of supporters.

Our Long term Vision

While the annual medical outreach continues to grow, our vision extends far beyond a single event.
We are working towards creating sustainable projects that will serve the community throughout the year.

College of Health Technology

Support the establishment of a College of Health Technology that will train future healthcare professionals from the local community, creating employment opportunities while strengthening healthcare services across the region.
